Project Description

The McLeod lab, in collaboration with various groups at other universities/institutions, is developing a method of monitoring brain activity in mice in real time measurements. Specifically, the McLeod lab is tasked with fabricating and characterizing a gradient index (GRIN) lens with specific biological and mechanical properties. The GRIN lens will be fabricated using volumetric additive manufacturing (a relatively new form of 3D printing) and will be characterized via a variety of methods (possibly x-ray computed tomography). An undergraduate researcher working on this project will likely focus on developing formulations of resin for printing and later testing, conducting data analysis on tomographic reconstructions of scanned prints, and/or improving the printing setup.听

Special Requirements

The student must be comfortable working in a room with yellow/red light, as materials used are photosensitive to blue light.听
