is the FormerÌýUnder Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.Ìý He was the Department’s Chief Technology Officer, and responsible for the all R&D activities across the DoD enterprise which included oversight of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Missile Defense Agency, the Defense Innovation Unit and the DoD Laboratory enterprise. Mike was previously Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Schafer Corporation. He has served as the King-McDonald Eminent Scholar and professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, as the Administrator of NASA, and as the Space Department Head at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.Ìý He has also held numerous executive positions including President and COO of In-Q-Tel, CEO of Magellan Systems, and EVP/General Manager at Orbital ATK.

Mark N. Sirangelo created and hosts the CU Future Insight Seminar Series as CU’s Entrepreneur-Scholar in Residence. He is the recent Chairman of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Innovation Board and the DoD’s Space Advisory Committee.Ìý Previously he was Special Assistant to the NASA Administrator helping to develop NASA’s return to the Moon.Ìý Mark was the founding executive and head of Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Space Systems which has participated in over 300 space & aerospace missions to date.Ìý He has served as the Chief Innovation Officer of Colorado and is the State’s appointee to the Colorado Energy Research Collaboratory.
