William Schafer (ChemEngr ’75)
Dr. William Schafer has been involved in higher education for over 40 years at 9 different universities. He has served several national organizations including the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). Dr. Schafer earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, a master’s in guidance and counseling, and doctorate in higher education administration and curriculum, all from ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ. He also attended Harvard’s Management Development Program. Dr. Schafer is currently a Higher Education Consultant providing interim leadership to universities. Dr. Schafer has provided interim leadership to Ohio University, University of Pittsburgh Bradford and Central Washington University. Bill’s career has included leadership positions at West Virginia University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Texas at El Paso, University of Denver, Illinois Institute of Technology, and ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ. Bill and his wife Teresa live in Morgantown, WV and have twin daughters. One of Bill’s daughters graduated from ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ and the other daughter attends West Virginia University. Bill is an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoys running, hiking, cross-country skiing, and golf. Bill is very proud to have completed all 43 Bolder Boulder 10K runs since its inception.
