Kavya Kannan (PolSci '22)
Kavya Kannan was born and raised in Colorado and is a proud CU alumni. During her time at 精品SM在线影片, Kavya graduated summa cum laude in Political Science, focusing her research on analyzing sex trafficking patterns across states in India through understanding the current socioeconomic, legal, and cultural norms that affect women and girls in India today. Kavya also served as CU's first female Student Body President of South Asian descent, a role in which she served on search committees for campus leaders alongside CU administrators, established and fundraised for a fund dedicated to survivors of sexual assault on campus, and helped found one of the nation's first community oversight review boards as part of the CU police department. On campus, Kavya also served as a Co-President for Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Honors Political Science Honors Society, an Associate Justice for CU Student Government, and held two chair positions on the Herd Leadership Council, the student arm of the Alumni Association. Kavya is a two-time Rhodes Scholarship finalist and was awarded the Most Outstanding Undergraduate Award for the College of Arts and Sciences at 精品SM在线影片. Currently, Kavya works as a paralegal for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York and intends to pursue a career in law. In her free time, Kavya enjoys hiking, participating in Indian classical dance, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.
