Genetic and demographic consequences of fast propagation
Dispersal is one of the critical processes during the spreading stage of biological invasions. In particular, long-distance dispersal events may increase the dispersibility of invasive species and thus accelerate the spread of the biological invasion. These events might also have huge consequences on the genetic diversity of the species. During my talk, I will present a nonlocal equation model that can take into account long-distance dispersal events. I will first focus on the propagation properties of the solutions to these nonlocal equations. I will show that the tail of the dispersal kernel plays a critical role in the spreading speed of the invasion. Then, I will present some results on the inside dynamics of these solutions.
