AIA Lecture: Archaeology and Demography of Local Cemeteries with Dr. Erin Baxter

Just in time for Halloween, this lively talk will explore the origins, art, history,Ìýdemographics, and archaeology of Colorado cemeteries and share findings of CU-Boulder student-led research at Boulder’s Colombia Cemetery. The history of funerary grounds, tombstones, graveyards, mausoleums, and other post-colonial burial practices will be explored, as will the origins of death practices themselves.

ErinÌýBaxterÌýis Acting Curator of Anthropology at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and a popular professor of CU’s Archaeology of Death (CLAS 3119),Ìýa fascinating insight into human history and culture in both the modern and ancient world. Erin earned herÌýPh.D. in Anthropology and a certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
