Lauren Hooten

Lauren Hooten is the second student to undertake the new Ph.D. in Arts of the Americas. Her research investigates fortification design in the Spanish and Portuguese empires, examining the intersection between the function and aesthetics of military architecture and the social and political forces of colonialism and imperialism. Lauren holds B.A. in Art and Archaeology from Princeton University with certificates in Spanish Languages and Cultures, Portuguese Languages and Cultures, and Latin American Studies, and an M.A. in Communication Management, Public Relations from the University of Denver.
