Associate Chair and Associate Director
Selection of incoming Associate Chairs and Associate Faculty Directors should be determined during the semester prior to the current Associate Chair/Director鈥檚 departure, no later than early summer, to ensure the appointments can be processed prior to the start date of one week prior to the start of classes in August.
All Associate Chair and Associate Director appointments in the College begin one week prior to the start of classes in August, and are paid out over 9 months on an academic year basis, funded by the College.
The stipend amount is calculated as a flat 2.5% stipend in alignment with the current base academic year salary.
Offer letters are drafted by the Unit via the template located at the link below and emailed to the CAS Faculty Affairs Office (CAS-Faculty@colorado.edu) for review and approval.
Process
- Unit selects new Associate Chairs/Directors
- Unit drafts offer letter and submits to CAS Faculty Affairs (CAS-Faculty@Colorado.edu)
- Offer letters are reviewed by CAS Faculty Affairs.
- Offer letters are reviewed by the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA).
- CAS Faculty Affairs routes the offer letter with CC to the following via DocuSign:
- Unit
- Boulder Campus Human Resources Service Center
- College of Arts and Sciences Budget Office
- CAS Faculty Affairs downloads completed letter to Personnel File.
- Appointment entered in HCM (Human Resources software) by the Campus Human Resources Service Center.
- If any changes to the offer letter are needed after approval, fill out an addendum form.
Interim Associate Chair/Interim Associate Faculty Director
The process of hiring an Interim Associate Chair or Interim Associate Director is identical to the process for hiring Associate Chairs/Directors as listed above. Any reference to the "Associate Chair" or "Associate Director" title should be replaced with "Interim Associate Chair" or "Interim Associate Director" accordingly.
