ASIA 4300聽"Urban Asia: History, Modernity, Challenges"聽will cover a variety of cities in China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), India, Japan, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other countries, and will be taught thematically (environmental issues, impact of colonialism, concepts of urbanism and modernity, and challenges facing urban areas) while keeping in mind the ideas of tradition, history, and modernity. Materials are drawn from a variety of sources in the social sciences, film and literature, history, etc. ASIA聽4300 is offered MWF from 1:00 to 1:50 in Ketchum 1B64.
