Increased international student enrollments on U.S. campuses over the last decade challenge faculty, staff, and administrators to think about strategies for developing welcoming environments for this diverse population. A logical place to begin thinking about international student well-being and academic success is to consider how to leverage students' language and cultural knowledge to support their academic goals and increase a sense of belonging and contribution in the classroom. After a brief overview of CLAC's philosophical approach to learning, Dr. Gonzalez will provide an in-depth case study of international students' experiences in Binghamton University's CLAC program, which she directed for more than 15 years.
