Profile

Sumiko Gibson moved to Colorado after teaching Japanese in Hong Kong for 8 years. She earned M.A. in Japanese Language and Culture from the Osaka University in 2008. Sumiko is a University of Northern Colorado alumnus, obtaining a B.A. in Social Science in 1998.

Sumiko joined the Department of the Modern Languages in 2013 after teaching Japanese at the University of Colorado at Boulder (2011 to 2012) and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (2012). Her research interests include Second Language Acquisition, Motivation, and Japanese as a Foreign Language Pedagogy.

Sumiko enjoys hiking and camping whenever she has time.
