English Language Proficiency Testing

The IEC can administer the English Language Screening Test to international students enrolled at the ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ. The purpose of the test is to assess students’ academic English oral proficiency and pronunciation. The test is comprised of a short interview with two evaluators. Students will be asked a series of questions and will be evaluated in real-time on their speaking competence and overall comprehensibility. Each evaluator independently rates students using a speaking and pronunciation rubric.

  • International students in some departments, including those who will be TA's or RA's, are required to take English language screening tests. Students who do not pass the test may be required to attend language support classes.
  • Prospective graduate students for whom the TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo is waived for admission can be tested to ensure that they are able to fully participate in their graduate programs.
