JEDI Completion Fellowship

The Center for Humanities & the Arts JEDI Completion Fellowship supports听master's听and doctorate-level graduate students working in the humanities and arts whose scholarly research and interests align with the听CHA鈥檚 Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) mission听to complete their degrees.

Award

  • Tuition (up to 18 credits per semester for Master's candidates and up to 5 credits听per semester for doctoral candidates)
  • Mandatory student fees, student health insurance, and a stipend equal to that of a 50% Graduate Part-Time Instructor.听

Eligibility

This fellowship is designed to assist master's and doctoral-level candidates complete their degree so students must be entering their final year of study in AY 2024-2025. Candidates across campus working in humanities or arts whose scholarly profile fits within听CHA鈥檚 JEDI mission听may apply.听Doctoral applicants who come from units outside of traditional arts and humanities fields should amply demonstrate how their project engages with multi- and inter-disciplinary arts and humanities methods and archives. Any eligible student may submit an application with the exception of students who have already received yearlong fellowships and/or funding, whether from 精品SM在线影片 or external sources.听Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.听

Selection Criteria

The selection committee will base their decisions on the following criteria:

  1. The fit between the student鈥檚 scholarly profile and the CHA JEDI mission.
  2. The quality of the applicant's research project
  3. The connection of the applicant鈥檚 research to arts and/or humanities methods and archives.
  4. The quality of the applicant鈥檚 CV (presentations, publications, awards, creative work, etc.)
  5. Probability of completing the dissertation within the award period (the higher, the better)
  6. Other teaching-free fellowships the applicant has already received (the fewer, the better)

Application Procedure

Complete the Application Form. Upload the Application Packet听in a single听pdf file (12pt font, single or double spaced):

  1. Cover Letter: Introducing yourself and your research, detailing how your scholarly profile fits within CHA鈥檚 JEDI mission
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  3. Synopsis: A summary of your thesis, capstone project, or dissertation听(750 words maximum)
  4. Timeline:听A timeline detailing your degree completion (one page or less)
  5. External Funding:听Information concerning other research grants (internal or external) to which you have applied and all other forms of financial support you have received鈥攕pecifically any internal and external fellowships you received or expect to receive to aid you in your completing your writing and research
  6. Letter of Support:听Letter of support including an evaluation statement of the thesis, capstone project, or dissertation and the likelihood it will be completed within the fellowship period. This should be written by a dissertation advisor or another member of the dissertation committee. Letter of support can be included with the application OR听sent directly to听chagrants@colorado.edu

Expectations

  • Recipients may not hold another appointment such as a teaching or research assistantship during the fellowship period but may hold a 0% appointment such as a grader or reader.
  • Recipients will be asked to submit a letter notifying the CHA upon completion of their thesis, capstone project, or dissertation. In addition, by May 1, please email chagrants@colorado.edu听a 300-600 word summary听of how the fellowship year aided in furthering your dissertation or thesis research. We鈥檇 like to know the impact of the award on your research and possibly include quotations on our website or other CHA materials. If you do not want this information shared with anyone outside of the CHA, please indicate that this information is for CHA eyes only.
  • Acknowledgment of the Center for Humanities & the Arts (CHA) is required on all promotional/published materials for projects funded by the CHA.听Use this language for听credit: 鈥淭his project听is supported, in part, by a grant from the Center for Humanities & the Arts鈥
