Al Weimer Wins 2015 AIChE Research Excellence in Sustainable Engineering Award

Al Weimer

As recognition of his transformational contributions to the production of renewable/ sustainable hydrogen by splitting water using concentrated sunlight, Professor Al Weimer was given the 2015 AIChE Research Excellence in Sustainable Engineering Award.

This award is presented annually to a sustainability leader who has made significant technical contributions relative to products, processes or the environment.

The honor comes on the heels of Weimer’s 2015 AIChE NSEF Forum Award, which recognized his pioneering contributions to the functionalization of fine particles by atomic layer deposition (Particle ALD) and the engineering scale-up of the processing.

The Excellence in Sustainable Engineering Award will be presented at the 2016 AIChE Annual Meeting in San Francisco, where Weimer will also give a plenary talk.
