Alumna Kim Ogden Named AIChE President-Elect

Kim Ogden

Alumna Kim Ogden has been named president-elect of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Ogden, a professor of chemical and environmental engineering and director of the Institute for energy solutions at the University of Arizona, will become president of AIChE in 2019.

She is a former PhD student of Professor Robert Davis and has a long history of service with the professional society, which includes more than 53,000 chemical engineers in 110 countries. Ogden has served as chair of the Student Chapters Committee, on the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, and as Institute Secretary and a member of the Executive Committee.

At least three other CU affiliates have served as president of the organization: former professors Max Peters and Klaus Timmerhaus and alumnus Scott Fogler.

Distinguished Professor Kristi Anseth, also an alumna of the department, was elected to the AIChE Board of Directors this year.
