Alex Cox is an EnglishÌýfilm director,Ìýscreenwriter,ÌýnonfictionÌýauthor,ÌýbroadcasterÌýand sometime actor. Cox experienced success early in his career withÌýRepo ManÌýandÌýSid and Nancy, but since the release and commercial failure ofÌýWalker, he has directed his career towardsÌýindependent films. Cox received a co-writer credit for the screenplay ofÌýTerry Gilliam'sÌýFear and Loathing in VegasÌý(1998) for previous work on the script before it was completely rewritten by Gilliam.

As of 2012, Cox has taught screenwriting and film production at theÌýUniversity of Colorado, Boulder where in 2013 he directed the feature Bill the Galatic HeroÌýmade entirely from a crew of film and theater students.

In 2017, he has directedÌýTombstone Rashomon,Ìýanother independant film work madeÌýwith the aid of current and former CU Film Studies alumni.
