Lauren is originally from Florida and holds a B.A. in Political Science from Beloit College, an M.S. in Sport Management from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Sports Studies from The University of Texas-Austin. Her academic research focused on international athlete acculturation, which translates well into helping students deal with transitions in the world of higher education.
She has worked in K-8 education in Los Angeles, California both as an AmeriCorps member and a classroom teacher. After going back to school for her Ph.D., she was most recently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, teaching classes in the Sport Leadership and Management Department. Her experiences teaching and working with students both during her Ph.D. program and as a full faculty member inspired her transition out of a strictly teaching role and into student success and support positions. Creating an inclusive and accessible environment for her students is one of her highest priorities.
Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, travel, reading, and trying her best to keep up with the current anime season.
