Amphitheaters like the Colosseum at Rome were the greatest entertainment venues in the Roman听world. Their decoration was designed to reinforce both the activities within听the structure such as animal hunts and听prisoner executions and the value听systems behind them while enhancing the experience for spectators. This lecture听examines the decorative programs of the Colosseum and its sister amphitheaters听at Capua and Puteoli.
