Research Interests

My research interests are broadly focused on how individuals’ social relationships impact their physical and mental health.Ìý I am especially interested in the interplay between minority stress, romantic relationship functioning, and mental health among sexual minority individuals. My most recent focus has been on the romantic relationships of bisexual, pansexual, and queer (bi+) individuals, who are at increased risk for mental health problems over individuals of other sexual orientations, and who experience unique stressors based on their identity.

I strive to apply an intersectional approach toward my research and study individuals who hold multiple minority identities, whose romantic relationships may have unique strengths and challenges to overcome.

I am also interested in assessing ways to overcome barriers to romantic relationship help-seeking in underserved populations.Ìý My overarching aim is that these diverse research objectives will help to inform the development and dissemination of culturally-sensitive interventions that utilize the romantic relationship to alleviate health difficulties.
