On April 17 the CU triathlon team added to its legacy by capturing its 11th national championship in Lubbock, Texas. It won the overall team title by 57 points over Army.

The CU triathlon club claimed the overall team title in USA Triathlon鈥檚 Collegiate National Championship in Lubbock, Texas, in April. In winning their first overall championship since earning three straight from 2003 through 2005, the Buffs finished first in the men鈥檚 competition and second in the women鈥檚.

颁鲍鈥檚听Cedric Wane聽(Math鈥10) placed second in the men鈥檚 overall race, while teammate sophomore聽Jessica Broderick聽was runner-up in the women鈥檚 overall standings and won the women鈥檚 undergraduate division. Broderick claimed the women鈥檚 overall title in 2009.

鈥淲hen I became coach in 2008, I told the team they would work harder than any other team in the country and they鈥檒l be the most prepared,鈥 says head coach Mike Ricci. 鈥淔rom that point on, they came to practice every day, motivated to give 100 percent and to execute the workout as it was intended. There was a lot of sweat equity put into the last 18 months.鈥

The team has the most triathlon titles in U.S. collegiate history.

In other CU club sports, the freestyle ski team placed second nationally, while men鈥檚 hockey, women鈥檚 volleyball and men鈥檚 volleyball each finished third in national meets.
