After surviving melanoma and thyroid听cancers in her early 30s, 碍补谤别苍听贬别谤迟锄 (Psych鈥99; MBA鈥05) adopted a听gluten-free diet as part of her treatment听plan. That meant a lot of beers听were off the menu.

So she started making her own, and听earlier this year founded Colorado鈥檚听first gluten-free brewery, Holidaily听Brewing Co., in Golden.听
Hertz will be one of at least half-a-dozen CU brewers serving samples听at Homecoming Weekend 2016. She鈥檒l听join alumni from Sanitas, West Flanders,听Fate, Ratio Beerworks, Upslope听and Bootstrap at Buffs on Tap, a听beer tasting by and for alumni in the听Koenig Alumni Center鈥檚 backyard. The听Oct. 14 event includes a barbecue meal听and costs $15.听
The event is one of many festivities听scheduled for the Oct. 13-15 reunion听weekend. Others include the Buffs听Bash at the Lazy Dog and the annual听parade and pep rally on Pearl Street.听On game-day, the free, family-friendly听Ralphie鈥檚 Corral tailgate will take听place three hours before the CU versus听Arizona State matchup at Folsom Field.听
In all, 17 reunions are听planned, including those of听the 50-Year and Golden Anniversary听Club and the Silver听Buffaloes Alumni Band.听For Hertz, participating听in Buffs on Tap will be a听reunion of its own: She听attended last year, just as she听was getting started.听
A year later, she鈥檚 in business,听offering seven beers听in her Golden taproom, including听Holidaily鈥檚 flagship听Favorite Blonde Ale.听
鈥淏uffs on Tap was the first听time I really served a beer听to somebody,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t鈥檚听where I feel like we started.鈥澨
