The Boulder International Film Festival has become a hot spot for movie stars and film enthusiasts around the country. The festival was started 10 years ago by sisters and filmmakers聽Kathy Beeck聽(Engl鈥86) and聽Robin Beeck(Comm鈥88). The pair shared a love for movies and believed that Boulder was the ideal place for a festival with a backdrop of the Flatirons. Their initial goal was to bring independent films to Boulder. In the festival鈥檚 first year, 5,000 people came. Now more than 20,000 people attend each year.

David R. Bach聽(Class) has been named a Maryland Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers magazine for 2013, 2014 and 2015. After serving for 28 years in the U.S. Navy (active and reserve time),聽James Michael Davis聽(Econ) retired in December with the rank of commander. The former CU NROTC midshipman spent 2013 on active duty in Manama, Bahrain. At retirement he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He lives in Pasadena, Calif.

After the $44 billion merger of the French and Swiss cement-supplying giants Lafarge and Holcim,聽Eric Olsen聽(Fin) was named CEO. Eric had been with Lafarge since 1999, holding several positions in the company鈥檚 North American operations. Originally from Chicago, Eric became a joint U.S-French citizen last year after more than a decade in France.

Timothy Tomasik (Jour), a founder of Chicago law firm Tomasik Kotin Kasserman LLC, handles aviation, transportation, antitrust and medical negligence cases. In 2011, he was a member of the plaintiff鈥檚 executive committee in litigation that secured a $1.2-billion settlement on behalf of World Trade Center property damage victims. Timothy鈥檚 wife, Jennifer, is also a lawyer. They have two daughters and live in Western Springs, Ill.

Following a long-time interest in family history, storytelling and genealogy, she started Creating Memories Now, which digitizes and stores family photographs and documents. Kate, who has lived in Las Vegas for 10 years, is a member of APPO, the Association of Professional Photo Organizers.
