CU 叠辞耻濒诲别谤鈥檚 study abroad program brought Heather Corinne Cumming (Hum鈥03) from Norwich, England, to the U.S. Peace Corps, where she served as a volunteer from 2004 to 2006 in Zambia. She founded her own organization in 2009 that serves remote villages in rural Zambia, rural Sierra Leone and formerly the border point of Ethio-South Sudan with water wells, clean and sustainable water year-round and simple irrigation systems. Owen Locke (Fin鈥03),聽a sixth-generation Colroadan, launched Locke聽+ Co. Aspen Aged Rye聽Whiskey in 2016 with his聽best friend. The whiskey聽spends two years in oak聽barrels followed by eight聽months with hand-cut聽and charred aspen wood聽discs, sourced from聽his family鈥檚 property in聽Fairplay, Colorado. Owen聽hopes to continue growing the company.

Dana Query聽(Comm鈥03) and her聽husband, Dave, own Big聽Red F Restaurant Group,聽including Jax Fish House,聽Centro, West End Tavern,聽The Post Chicken & Beer聽and Velvet Elk Lounge.聽They reside in Boulder聽and are active community聽members. Their two sons,聽Harrison and Matt Query聽(Psych, Soc鈥12), recently聽co-wrote a thriller novel,聽. Harrison聽wrote the screenplay聽for the story, which was聽bought by Netflix in a聽seven-figure deal the聽same month the brothers聽landed a book deal.

Multimedia marketing and engagement expert Jessica Kizorek (Span鈥03) has developed an international presence as a video storyteller, entrepreneur and activist. Working primarily with large nonprofits 鈥 including the AARP Foundation and Special Olympics 鈥 through her company Two Parrot Productions, she has created hundreds of short films and video-centric fundraising campaigns. She has covered a multitude of humanitarian causes as a journalist and documentarian in over 60 countries. Jessica is also passionate about empowering female entrepreneurs through her organization, Badass Businesswomen. A published author, Jessica has 10 books to her name and has appeared on major news outlets such as Fox, NBC, CNN, Weekend Today and the Better Show. After obtaining her master鈥檚 degree from Florida International University, she is now pursuing a doctorate degree in business administration.

Cris聽intends to use his experience in this new role to聽lead the advancement of聽the department in support of cultural vibrancy,聽district vitality and聽access for all throughout the city and within聽叠辞耻濒诲别谤鈥檚 key economic centers. Since 2014,聽惭补迟迟听厂别别蹿别濒诲迟聽(MChemEn-gr鈥03; PhD鈥04) has served聽as executive director of聽the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility (GBF), a聽research organization聽advancing cell and gene聽therapy research. After聽graduating from CU,聽Matt later returned to聽work at the CU Anschutz聽Medical campus to help聽develop protein and cell聽biological therapies. In聽June 2023, he gave a tour聽of GBF to Senator and聽former Colorado Gov.聽John Hickenlooper and聽Federal Drug Administration Commissioner聽Robert Califf. Matt also is聽cited as a world expert in聽protein refolding.聽

叠辞耻濒诲别谤鈥檚 Trevor Seelye (Econ鈥03) and Elizabeth Seelye (Jour鈥02) are co-owners of Independent Power, which specializes in helping customers build plans to transition their homes, businesses and vehicles to operate with clean energy. In addition to solar and electrification projects in Boulder, Denver, the Front Range and Bozeman, Montana, Independent Power has also built solar, storage, wind and hybrid systems in Rocky Mountain National Park and at military bases in the Indian Ocean.

Jeff Parker (MAeroEngr鈥03; PhD鈥07) and Bradley Cheetham (MAeroEngr鈥11) co-founded Advanced Space, a startup that develops technology to enable sustainable exploration, development and settlement of space. In 2022, it launched the successful CAPSTONE satellite, which orbits the Moon.
鈥淲e love what we do, and Advanced Space lets us do it,鈥 Parker said. 鈥淲e have fully intended this company to be multigenerational: something that will outlast anyone here. How often do you get the opportunity to help define interplanetary missions, test out new navigation technologies, and inspire engineers all at the same time?鈥
