After moving to Argentina on a whim in 2010, David Burg (Hum) stumbled into his dream career. While looking for a season ski pass in the Catedral Alta Patagonia region, he ended up with a job for South America Snow Sessions, an adventure travel business. Today he is director of finance for SASS and serves as general manager for its backcountry program in Argentina. David splits聽his time between SASS鈥 global headquarters in Rincon, Puerto Rico, and his home base in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

After graduating聽from CU聽Margot聽Hensler Phelps聽(Astro)聽worked at Caltech, helping install the Advanced聽Laser Interferometer聽Gravitational-Wave聽Observatory (LIGO) in聽Hanford, Wash., and聽Livingston, La. During her聽time on the team (three聽members of whom won聽the 2017 Nobel Prize in聽Physics), she patented an聽optics cleaning process.听She then completed her聽doctorate in gravitational 聽wave research at the聽University of Glasgow.听In March she will begin聽a post-doc position聽at the Albert Einstein聽Gravitational Wave聽Institute in Hanford,聽Germany. 聽

Kate Mishara (Jour) is a school leader at Wyatt Academy, a K-5Title I elementary school in the Denver Five Points neighborhood. 鈥淢y work at Wyatt has transformed us from a school to a hub of community resources and an institution of learning,鈥 Kate wrote. 鈥淎t our school, we deeply believe in meeting the basic needs of our scholars and families.鈥 To help provide for student and family needs, the school has built an all-natural food pantry, a no-cost clothing shop and a family computer lab. It will soon add a washing machine and dryer to the community resource center.

David Palmer (PolSci) is the founder of both the Joan Rose Foundation and Good Threads Needle Point. In the first semester of his senior year at CU, David studied abroad in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This trip inspired him to create his foundation in 2010, which helps impoverished children receive access to food, schooling and medical care. Good Threads was created to employ the children鈥檚 mothers, who had few work opportunities. Their work has been featured on CNN.
