Greeley, Colo., KUNC radio station promoted聽Jaclyn Fortier聽(Jour鈥13) to a full-time position. She is the聽All Things Considered聽host and producer, which is the second highest-rated show after聽Morning Edition. Jaclyn airs Wednesday through Friday from 2-7 p.m. She lives in Windsor, Colo.

Distance runner聽Emma Coburn聽(Mktg鈥13) ended her collegiate running career with her second NCAA steeplechase title in June. Her race time was the fifth-best in NCAA history. Within hours of winning the title, she signed a professional contract with shoe company New Balance. As she begins her professional career, Emma will remain at CU as a volunteer assistant coach.

At the Boulder Sprint Triathlon in June聽Flora Duffy聽(Soc鈥13) finished first of the women with a time of 1:08:36. The race took place at the Boulder Reservoir. Flora is a two-time Olympian for Bermuda and graduated from CU in May. 鈥淭his is the first triathlon I鈥檝e done since November,鈥 Flora told the聽Daily Camera.

Members serve throughout Denver and 24 other national sites developing after-school programs and tutoring students.

After graduating in May聽Brian Ash聽(Econ鈥13) moved to rural western Kenya where Arrive, the nonprofit organization he founded, is based. Arrive staff work with abandoned and impoverished children by giving them a place to live at Keumbu Rehema Children鈥檚 Home. At CU-Boulder Brian worked for the Environmental Center as a bike mechanic at the campus bike shop.

Three former CU triathlon team members represented Team USA at this spring鈥檚 International University Sports Federation鈥檚 12th World University Triathlon Championships in Brazil.聽Chris Braden听(贵颈苍鈥13),听Michelle Mehnert聽(MCivEngr鈥13) and Ryan Bice, a University of Colorado Colorado Springs graduate, participated and took home 3rd, 9th and 11th.

Last summer聽Richard Hunt聽(PhDBus) joined Virginia Tech鈥檚 business college as assistant professor in the management department. His CU dissertation, which focused on the entry and survival strategies of entrepreneurial firms, won the 2014 Academy of Management NFIB Outstanding Dissertation Award. He was recognized twice by CU for teaching excellence.

Known as the name 鈥淏allroom Cancer鈥 to the music world, Jake Sheppard (Bio) is creating electronic music in L.A. He was mentioned on Entertainment Weekly鈥檚 website, which described his single 鈥淢isinterest鈥 as 鈥渇ascinatingly strange.鈥 Jake started making music at CU. The video for 鈥淢isinterest鈥 is the work of classmate Aric Van Halen (Film鈥13), whose father, Alex, is a co-founder of the rock band Van Halen.

Two years ago聽Tim Jenkins聽(Econ, PolSci) founded聽Seattle Food Rescue,聽which redistributes food聽that would be thrown聽away by businesses to聽people who can benefit聽from it. Recently, the聽organization partnered聽with Capitol Hill Housing聽to distribute food directly to three residential聽apartment complexes in聽need. Tim brought the聽food rescue concept聽to Seattle after working with Boulder Food聽Rescue while he was a聽student at CU. At Seattle聽Food Rescue, nearly 85聽percent of his volunteers聽are students, many from聽the University of Seattle.聽Tim hopes to expand聽to incorporate graduate students from the聽University of Washington聽on a geographical information systems project聽to map donors and聽recipients and determine聽the best bike routes.

Only six months into聽her biathlon skiing聽career, a sport that聽combines cross-country聽skiing and rifle shooting,聽Joanne Reid (Math;聽MS鈥16) participated聽in the biathlon World聽Cup in the 15-kilometer聽individual. It was only聽her eighth biathlon race聽ever. Before becoming聽a biathlete, she led CU鈥檚聽NCAA Nordic championship team in 2013.聽After graduating from聽CU, she took a year off聽from skiing, but returned聽to training in 2014聽while working toward a聽master鈥檚 degree. From聽there, she earned a聽spot on the U.S. Ski聽Team鈥檚 squad for the聽Under-23 World Championships. She was the聽top American skier in聽the 10-kilometer skate聽and the 15-kilometer聽skiathlon.
