I鈥檓 currently working in Dr. Michael Breed鈥檚 lab, my research is focused on task switching behavior in honeybees. This is incredibly important due to the significance that honeybees have as pollinators, and the sharp decline that is being seen in their populations. Eusocial species like honeybees require an extreme level of cooperation to survive. Understanding the behavior of honeybees that allows for this cooperation is an important key in conserving them.
Before beginning my honors research I was unsure what I wanted to do with my degree. Now I have a passion for research so strong that I wouldn鈥檛 want to do anything else. The honors program has been the most rewarding experiences of my academic career. It has given me access to amazing scientists, many skills, and a better understanding of the world around me. I would recommend that anyone considering a career in science should take part in the honors program.
