Born and raised in California, Franklin holds an MA in Student Affairs Administration with a graduate certificate in Teaching and Learning from Michigan State University and a BA in Sociology and Black Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Prior to joining the SOE community, Franklin served in many higher education roles in residence life, student conduct, affinity-based mentoring, and first-year experience. His research interest examines the relationship between holistic mentorship and Black LGBTQ men's self-efficacy and persistence in education. In his free time, Franklin enjoys being active, music, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
