Course Description
This graduate-level course focuses on the principles and practices of quality management in modern organizations. You will develop an understanding of the theories, methodologies, and tools used to achieve and maintain high levels of quality in products and services. The course will cover topics such as Total Quality Management, Six Sigma, Lean Management, ISO 9001, and Continuous Improvement.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to design and implement quality management systems, conduct process improvement initiatives, measure and analyze performance data, and lead organizational change. Case studies, group projects, and hands-on exercises will be used to reinforce key concepts and provide you with opportunities to apply their learning in real-world scenarios.
Upon completion of the course, you will have the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage quality in your organizations and contribute to the development of best practices in quality management.
Skills and Knowledge Gained
- Recall and identify the major concepts, theories, and principles of quality management, including TQM, Six Sigma, Lean Management, ISO 9001, Continuous Improvement, and other related topics.
- Explain and describe the relationships between different quality management frameworks, methodologies, and tools, and how they can be applied to improve organizational processes and performance.
- Apply their knowledge of quality management to real-world situations, including designing and implementing quality management systems, conducting process improvements, and measuring and analyzing performance data.
- Analyze complex problems related to quality management, such as identifying the root causes of defects and inefficiencies, and develop and evaluate solutions to these problems.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of quality management systems and initiatives in terms of their impact on organizational performance, customer satisfaction, and other key metrics, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Design and develop innovative quality management approaches and solutions that are tailored to specific organizational contexts and challenges, and effectively communicate and present their ideas to stakeholders.
