2022 CU Engineering Halloween Celebration

Celebrate spooky season with your colleagues! Engineering Staff Council, CU Engineering HR and the Engineering Student Success Hub are all pitching in for a day full of Halloween fun.

9-10 a.m.
Stop by for some Halloween-themed treats and beverages. Plus, wear your Halloween costume for a chance to win a prize! 

10 a.m.: Group Photo
We will be taking a group photo of folks in their costumes at 10 a.m. in front of the Dean's Office.


Pumpkin Carving Contest Judging

9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Faculty, staff and students are all invited to cast their votes for our 8th Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. See below for contest details, plus information on how you can enter your gourd-geous creation. 


Halloween at the Hub

3-5 p.m.
Staff and faculty are invited to celebrate Halloween at the Hub, the launch event for the new Engineering Success Hub, now open in the north wing of the Engineering Center. Trick-or-treat around the Hub to discover the resources engineering students need to succeed, all while earning yourself candy and other treats.


Pumpkin Carving Contest Details

This is the perfect event to start or join a team, and to reconnect with your colleagues. Pumpkins will be judged in six categories:

  • Scariest
  • Engineering Themed
  • Classic
  • Funniest
  • CU Themed
  • Best Overall (all entries are automatically included in this category)

The winning pumpkins will be given bragging rights for the entire year, with the Best Overall pumpkin winning a pizza party for the department/unit!

Start a Team and Get Creative!

To sign up and participate in the contest, fill out the form above by Monday, Oct. 17, and stay tuned for additional details about the competition.

Team captains will be provided with pumpkins and additional details for the competition at a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. in the Clark Conference Room (Zoom link will also be provided). Pumpkins will still be available for pick up in the Engineering Center Dean鈥檚 Office (ECAD 140) to participating teams.

All teams can participate either in-person or virtually. Virtual participants may submit two photos:

  1. a photo of the final entry
  2. a photo of the final entry with the artist(s)

Send photos to Ashley West by Tuesday, Oct. 25, with a comment on which category for the contest.

All members of the community are welcome to participate in judging the pumpkins on competition day in-person or via an online survey.
