Taking into account feedback from staff across the college and after discussing the continuing future-of-work pilot policy with Engineering Staff Council, the college will be offering a summer hybrid schedule from May 16 to July 31 (extended from the previously announced end date of July 10).听During this pilot period, every staff employee will have the opportunity to work directly with their supervisor to create a hybrid work schedule that meets the needs of the unit and allows the employee increased flexibility to create a good work-life balance.听For transparency, the supervisor will be empowered to create employee schedules that satisfy the needs of the unit without a defined, minimum two-day/week on-campus presence from each employee.

During this eight-week period, the Engineering Staff Council聽will send out a survey, the results of which will be used to help shape the future hybrid work policy for the college.听This survey will be one of many points of input as the college聽develops longer-term policies.

The expectations during this flexible arrangement are as follows:

  • All units will have the office staffed during campus operating hours (7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., M-F)
  • All units will be responsible for scheduling team-building activities to promote community within their unit
  • Every employee will support the college鈥檚 academic mission and work to successfully achieve the annual goals and objectives associated with their positions
  • Every staff member will maintain and elevate a positive work culture of collaboration, creative problem-solving, inclusion and community
  • All staff will come to campus when requested by their supervisor, and to participate in the following:
    • Student-facing events
    • Team-building activities
    • Interdisciplinary events
    • College meetings

We will evaluate this summer hybrid format through supervisor feedback, student feedback聽and the staff feedback surveys that will be distributed the week of June 6.听

As explained in the hybrid work policy last November, the college wants to support and encourage a balance between an employee鈥檚 working life and private life. We strive to embed flexibility and the opportunity for remote work into our culture and habits to achieve the highest level of productivity.听If you want to provide feedback prior to the survey release in June, please .听
