Inspired by education, Mrig family supports CU Engineering scholarships
Arriving in the U.S. in January 1970, Laxmi Mrig used a full scholarship to earn a master鈥檚 degree in electrical engineering at the University of Texas in Arlington. After working at Stearns Roger designing power plants for six years, he joined the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to research emerging solar photovoltaic technology. While at NREL, he competed an Executive MBA degree from the University of Denver.
Raj Mrig came to the U.S. in 1974 and graduated from the University of Denver with an MBA 鈥 a degree also completed with the help of scholarship support. She worked at Mobil until 1986.
Together, the couple launched , an organization based in Greenwood Village, Colorado, that provides professional development training to individuals working in the energy, oil/gas, water/wastewater and infrastructure industries. Over more than 35 years in business, EUCI has provided education to more than 150,000 professionals.
With education as the backbone of their successes, it鈥檚 only natural that the Mrigs chose to enable future generations to better their lives through education. As a gesture of thanks for the United States universities who helped Laxmi and Raj earn their graduate degrees, the couple made a five-year commitment in spring 2021 to support undergraduate scholarships in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at 精品SM在线影片.
鈥淓ducation supported by scholarships has been the main vehicle that has helped spring us out of our modest background and into successful professional careers,鈥 Laxmi Mrig said. 鈥淐olorado has been the state where we elected to raise our family and started our professional careers and business. Thus, we thought it was appropriate to pay it forward by supporting educational scholarships at the leading engineering university in the state.鈥
