Since 2009, the BOLD Center has served historically marginalized and underserved engineering students at ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ. With community-building programs, free tutoring, and 9 identity-based, professional engineering and STEM societies, the BOLD Center is more than just a student center – it's a community!ÌýÌý
The purpose of the BOLD Community and Scholarship Assistant (CASA) role is to support the BOLD Community’s mission in fostering a sense of belonging for underserved and marginalized students in the College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS). This involves, but is not limited to, supporting BOLD Staff in effectively designing, coordinating, facilitating, and assessing regularly scheduled events in BOLD and Williams Village (I.e. Power Hours, BOLD Welcome Week, BOLD Graduation, etc.) to reflect holistic student support for all students affiliated with the BOLD Center; tracking and grading different scholarship requirements for approximately 100 students through Canvas and other data programs; assisting student societies in hosting general body meetings and events; and providing mentorship and support for students receiving a BOLD Leadership and Engagement Scholarship.Ìý
Candidates for the CASA role should be able to effectively demonstrate and communicate skills and experiences related to project management, program & event planning, interpersonal communication, and/or leadership through participation in BOLD programs and other campus involvement. CASAs will also serve as ambassadors of The BOLD Center through their interactions with all members of the BOLD Community.Ìý
Areas of Responsibilities:Ìý
Programming & Engagement (50%)Ìý
- Assist BOLD Staff in designing, implementing, and assessing regularly scheduled BOLD & GoldShirt such as Lunch & Learn, Orientation, BOLD Welcome Week, and more!Ìý
- Support both BOLD Center and Will Vill programming for BOLD & GoldShirt students on any of the following topics:
- Academic Support & Resources
- Professional Development
- Cultural Diversity & Inclusion
- Health & Wellness
- Financial Literacy
- Community Building Socials
- Life SkillsÌý
- Assist BOLD Staff in planning, facilitating, and assessing the BOLD Institute for Leadership Development Retreat (BILD) and Joint Council Meetings for all BOLD Student Society leaders.Ìý
- Liaise with and support 1-2 BOLD Student Societies with programming, e-board transitions, elections, and tracking active membership.Ìý
- Collaborate with multiple CEAS & CU departments and services for BOLD programs and events for the BOLD Community.Ìý
- Partner and collaborate with the Social Media Student Assistant in maintaining communication and marketing of announcements for BOLD community.Ìý
- Assist with inventory and distribution of materials for student programming including budget tracking and spending.Ìý
Scholarship Support (30%)Ìý
- Track and grade scholarship requirements for BOLD Scholars via Canvas.Ìý
- Follow-up with BOLD Scholars who are missing requirements.Ìý
- Assist BOLD Advisors in collecting feedback from BOLD Scholars.Ìý
- Collect and synthesize data and assessment for scholarship reporting and tracking needs.Ìý
- Assist in reviewing scholarship applications within the Academic Works system; process application information and assist with awarding.Ìý
Peer Mentoring & Support (10%)Ìý
- Engage with first-year BOLD Scholar mentees to build relationships and provide peer-to-peer support.ÌýÌý
- Attend 3-4 events planned and facilitated by BOLD Staff with your mentees.Ìý
- Actively communicate and engage within the BOLD Community.Ìý
- Provide referrals and resources available within BOLD, CEAS, and at CU.Ìý
- Submit timely and accurate communications to supervisors regarding students’ concerns (academic, health, personal, etc.) when appropriate.Ìý
ÌýAdministrative Duties (10%)Ìý
- Check e-mail correspondence daily and respond to students accordinglyÌý
- Must be available to attend Summer CASA Training tentatively planned for Aug 7-Aug 13, 2025Ìý
- Attend and participate in regularly schedule meetings with BOLD StaffÌý
- Effectively communicate, collaborate, and support BOLD professional staff and fellow student staff.Ìý
- Serve as an ambassador of The BOLD Center and role model BOLD’s mission, vision, and values.Ìý
- Conduct themselves responsibly and in accordance with expectations of the position and university policy.Ìý
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager for BOLD Leadership & Scholarship and the Coordinator of BOLD Programs & Student Engagement.Ìý
Eligibility & Requirements:Ìý
- Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits or more) undergraduate within CEAS at ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ.Ìý
- Previous participation in The BOLD Center and an awareness of BOLD programs, student societies, and BOLD resources.
- Preference will be given to current students receiving the following scholarships:
- BOLD Center or BOLD Leadership
- BOLD Engagement
- Engineering GoldShirtÌý
- Preference will be given to current students receiving the following scholarships:
- Enthusiasm to contribute to the BOLD community and supporting students!Ìý
- Students are expected to maintain a 2.50 cumulative GPA with support from BOLD staff.Ìý
- Work-study preferred but not required.Ìý
- Tentative and approximate hours per week:
- August Student Employment Training
- 15-25 hours (total) during BOLD CASA training.
- Academic Year (Fall 2025-Spring 2026)
- 5-10 hours per week:
- 1 hour per week for CASA staff meetings with BOLD Staff
- 1-2 hours per week for tracking and grading canvas submissions
- 1-2 hours per week supporting BOLD student societies
- 1-2 hours per week engaging with mentees and BOLD community
- 1-3 hours per week supporting programming and events.Ìý
- 5-10 hours per week:
- August Student Employment Training
Pay & Compensation:Ìý
- The pay rate begins at $17+ an hour as a Student Assistant I with no additional benefits.Ìý
