Utility and Energy Services

Utility and Energy Services is responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and repair of the campus鈥檚 energy generation and distribution infrastructure for steam (heating), chilled water (cooling), and electricity. We provide the campus community with reliable utility services in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner and offer measurement, line locating, performance engineering, regulatory and data management services.

Organization

The 24/7 Utility Generation & Distribution (UG&D) group monitors and operates the 精品SM在线影片 District Energy Plants and campus wide utility Distribution Systems. This group is tasked with ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the district energy plants and distribution infrastructure as well as overseeing the real time monitoring of campus energy consumption and utility performance.

  1. The District Energy Plant Maintenance group manages the mechanical capital improvements, preventative and predictive maintenance programs for the utility generation systems at 精品SM在线影片. This group is tasked with maintaining the district energy plant turbomachinery, boilers, chillers, and auxiliary equipment to ensure that equipment availability is not compromised and system performance can be optimized.
  2. The Distribution & Metering group manages the mechanical capital improvements, preventative and predictive maintenance programs for the campus wide utility distribution and metering systems at 精品SM在线影片. This group is tasked with maintaining the steam, condensate, chilled water, utility tunnels, and energy meters to ensure that component availability is not compromised and system performance can be optimized.
  1. The Instrumentation and Control (I&C) group manages and maintains the District Energy Plant process control system, the campus wide Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI), and the centralized supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  2. The Electrical Distribution group manages and maintains the electrical preventative and predictive maintenance programs for the 精品SM在线影片 15kV Microgrid (CBM) and District Energy Plants to ensure that equipment availability is not compromised, system performance can be optimized, and energy data is accurate.
  3. The Utility Locate group manages the UNCC program for the 精品SM在线影片 campus. All utility locate requests are managed and completed by the locator group to ensure accurate and on-time location of our utility infrastructure. See link below for all 811 locating information.

The Energy Services group conducts Energy Audits, Commissioning (Cx) Services, and manages the campus wide energy management program plan. Additionally, the group is responsible for the renewable energy portfolio and the expansion of our renewable generation resources. For all the details and the latest energy news, check out the .

The Utility Engineering & Administration group is responsible for the code and regulatory compliant design of the utility infrastructure. Engineering maintains and updates the campus wide utility design criteria standards to ensure proper equipment selections and systems are integrated into the existing utility infrastructure. Additionally, the group is tasked with analyzing building energy and equipment performance data to verify that systems are operating properly. The group is also responsible for energy, performance, and regulatory reporting to the required state, local, and federal entities as well as 精品SM在线影片 customers and provides planning support to all capital program plans.
