Highlights from the 7th annual Health & Wellness Summit

¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ hosted the seventh annual Health & Wellness Summit on Nov. 12-13. This event featured speakers, panels, workshops and interactive activities to provide support and engage students, staff and faculty around wellness topics. 

Here are a few highlights from this year’s summit. 

Employee Benefits and Wellness Fair

¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ hosted an in-person Employee Benefits and Wellness Fair to share resources, services, programs, benefits and information related to faculty and staff well-being. Nearly 400 university employees circulated among booths featuring both campus and community vendors related to recreation, affinity and community groups, public health, assistance programs, employee benefits and more.  

In addition to campus and community vendors, the fair featured hands-on experiences to help staff and faculty improve their well-being. Activities included flu shots, acupressure, chair massages, professional headshots, Accessibili-tea and more.

Gratitude and Good Vibes Market for students

Students gathered for a festive market to connect and catch a break ahead of exam season. This special event offered free food, warm drinks and ways to relax and reset. Activities like DIY crafts and gratitude journaling gave students a chance to unwind and share some good vibes as they prepared for the busy weeks ahead.  

Campus presentations

Colleagues from across the system shared research findings, training tools and information on a variety of wellness topics during the first day of the summit. Here are a few highlights from those presentations that ultimately drew nearly 500 in-person and virtual attendees.

  • Culture Change, Supreme and Social Inequities from a Recovery Model

First annual State of Well-Being address

Associate Vice Chancellor Dr. Jess Doty delivered ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ’s first ever State of Well-Being address as the closing keynote for the summit.  

Dr. Doty spoke to the landscape of well-being on college campuses and in workplaces nationally, raised awareness of our own campus data and highlighted her vision for 2030 and the progress that has been made so far. Some highlights from Dr. Doty’s presentation are:

  • Our Medical Services team had over 30,000 appointments last year.
  • ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ is on the Healthcare Equality Index for the third year running.
  • 80% of students who had a session with Counseling and Psychiatric Services indicated that session helped them to persist at ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ.
  • Health and Wellness has two co-responding professionals embedded in the CU Police Department—a victim/survivor advocate and a therapist.
  • ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ just launched an employee wellness application called
  • We have a bright future for well-being at our university. Doty and her team look forward to partnering with campus to achieve her vision for well-being at ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ. 

Dr. Doty ended her presentation with the announcement that ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ was recently awarded Gold Level recognition from the American Heart Association and as a Healthy Workplace Leader by Healthy Links. These awards illustrate that ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ continually demonstrates the highest level of commitment and dedication of resources to team members and community health and safety.
