Interested in spending 13 days in Cuba studying Cuban politics, economics, history, and society?

A class in the political science department called, "Politics, History, & Society of Cuba,"聽is a global intensive course that includes a 13-day trip to Havana, Trinidad, and some other destinations in Cuba (Vinales, Cienfuegos, and Santa Clara). The 3-credit class occurs in the Spring 2023 semester.

Throughout the trip, you will聽meet聽and learn from locals, ranging from experts in art, architecture, politics, music, religion, economics, and everyday families.

The class will focus on the politics of Cuba, with a focus on the period just preceding and ever since the Revolution. There will also be a strong focus on US-Cuban relations, socialist economic models and Cuba's economy, authoritarianism, Cuban culture (e.g., music, dance, baseball), informal economies, issues surrounding religion, gender and race, and many more uniquely Cuban activities.

Additionally,聽Cuba is among the most-highly vaccinated countries in the world (94% according to the New York Times Tracker). It is among the safest international destinations for foreign travelers due to its extremely low crime rates.

The deadline to apply is October 1, 2022 with rolling admission.
