Dr. Naomi Friedman writes that Alex, who is in the Behavioral, Psychiatric, and Statistical Genetics program, has a breadth of work that incorporates many areas of psychology, particularly genetics, cognition, neuroimaging, and clinical psychology.听 She states, 鈥渢he level of integration听Alex 听has achieved is one that I would consider exceptional in a faculty member, let alone a graduate student. His transformative thinking is the kind that will push our field forward.鈥 听 His work has focused on incorporating twin modeling, cognitive executive functions, psychopathology, neuroimaging and machine learning methods. 听More recently, he has been involved in conducting genome-wide association analyses investigating the genetic correlation between executive functioning and psychopathology.听 Across all of these studies, Alex integrates methods and area to arrive at a bigger picture that advances the field.听 Furthermore, he is an effective collaborator, generous with his time, helpful to students, and a team player. 听
