Welcome to the Future of Working Landscapes (aka FoWL) Lab at the University of Colorado-Boulder. In the FoWL Lab, we use interdisciplinary approaches to understand how working landscapes -- social-ecological systems where biodiversity supports human lives, livelihoods, and well-being --  are changing. We integrate methods and data from natural sciences and social sciences to advance the sustainable and equitable management of these landscapes in the 21st century. Our research spans ecosystems, but all of our work has an applied component, and we work closely with community partners and management agencies to connect our work to on-the-ground management.

We are part of the Geography Department and the . We are also affiliated with the (ESIIL).
