Zach joined the Medlin and Schwartz labs in 2022, pursuing a PhD in Chemical Engineering. Before coming to CU, Zach completed his B.S. in Chemical Engineering (2021) and his accelerated M.S. in Chemical Engineering (2022) at the University of North Dakota. In his M.S. thesis work, Zach studied fast pyrolysis of mixed plastic waste for upcycling to fuels and aromatics, using Pyrolysis-GC-MS techniques.
Zach's听current research听focuses on understanding how surface modification of single atom catalysts (SACs) impacts reactivity and selectivity of industrially relevant reactions.听
Outside of the lab, Zach enjoys maintaining his houseplant collection, cooking, and going on leisure hikes/walks.听
