Moved by a performance of the 2013 Holiday Festival, one of the College of Music's and CU Presents' most popular events year after year, University of Colorado Regent Stephen Ludwig authored a poem, "Cosmic Gift," that distills some of the emotions stirred by the performance.
CU-Boulder College of Music faculty, students and alumni at the biennial Symposium on Music Teacher Education, which took place this September at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
The program will feature presentations by Rabbi Jeffrey Summit of Tufts University and Associate Professor of Music Theory Yonatan Malin, on their work in the area of Jewish music. There also will be musical presentations from Eyal Rivlin, lecturer in Hebrew at CU, and cantors Michelle Wolf and Joe Lukasik.

When Brenda M. Romero was inducted into the Chicano Music Hall of Fame on July 26, it was just another step in her long-running effort to utilize 鈥渙ld New Mexican music鈥� to teach a history that is largely unknown today.
James Austin has been named interim dean of CU-Boulder鈥檚 College of Music, Provost Russell Moore announced today. The appointment is effective on July 1. Austin, a professor of music education, joined the College of Music in 1994. He has served as associate dean of undergraduate studies since 2006. He was the music education chair from 1997 to 2012. In 2004, the college awarded Austin the Richard Bern Trego faculty fellowship.
