Research Interests:聽My research investigates how people understand language. Most of my work uses neuroimaging and behavioral techniques, especially scalp-recorded event-related potentials (ERPs) to study the cognitive and neural mechanisms of language processing.聽These studies focus on the earliest stages of visual word recognition (within the initial 200 ms of encountering a word ) and on the processes that allow words to be combined into larger representations, such as sentences.聽聽聽
