From Vice Chancellor Mull: Connecting with community
Hi Buff families,Ìý
Winter in Colorado is truly something special! The snow's beauty is unmatched, and while we experienced some cold days last month, I am grateful for the warm and sunny days we often get between the drops in temperature.ÌýÌý
With the spring semester well underway, February offers us a time to focus on our community and relationships. I like to make time each week to intentionally connect with friends, family and colleagues to maintain my well-being and for some laughs. This month, I encourage our students to reach out and spend quality time with someone who is important to them. This may include friends, roommates, classmates, co-workers, family members, significant others, mentors or supervisors.ÌýÌý
This month is also a great time for your Buffs to explore new ways to get involved, meet new people and find their place on campus. They can start with Student Affairs programs and departments that build community around specific groups and identities:ÌýÌý
- Commuting BuffsÌý
- Transfer Student CommunityÌý
- First-Generation ProgramsÌý
- Veteran and Military AffairsÌýÌý
- Intercultural Engagement OfficeÌý
- Pride OfficeÌýÌý
- Fraternity and Sorority LifeÌý
Another way to meet new people is to meet fellow Buffs with shared interests. Our university has a large esports and gaming community, and it was a treat for me to join our Buffs last month and celebrate the grand opening of the new Alienware Buffalo Esports and Gaming Lounge. If your Buff is into gaming or interested in trying something new, this is an excellent space for them to engage in a favorite hobby with others. Encourage them to check out upcoming . Your student can also browse BuffConnect to find a variety of student organizations and programs related to their interests.ÌýÌý
It is important to me that all Buffs feel like they belong and have a place at ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ—and that includes families! I hope you have the chance to visit your Buff on campus this semester, whether that is at Family Day, a or just an opportunity to share a meal together at their favorite dining location. If you are on campus and you see me around, please stop and say hi. I look forward to connecting with you!ÌýÌý
Warmly,ÌýÌý
Dr. D'Andra MullÌý
