This position is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology鈥檚 (NIST) Professional Research ExperienceProgram听(PREP).听NIST听recognizes听that听its听research听staff听may听wish听to听collaborate听with听researchers听at听academicinstitutions听on听specific听projects听of听mutual听interest听thus听requires听that听such听institutions听must听be听the听recipient of a PREP award.The PREP program requires staff from a wide range of backgrounds to work on听scientific research in听many听areas.Employees in听this position will perform听technical work that underpins the听scientific听research听of听the听collaboration.
The Professional听Research听Experience Program (PREP)听is a special partnership between听the National Institute of Standards听and听Technology听(NIST) and听the听University听of听Colorado听Boulder.听PREP听provides听research听opportunities to CU undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in NIST labs to gain research experience alongside NIST scientists.

Summary of the Position
This PREP research position will focus on developing high-speed superconducting integrated devices, circuits,听and systems for applications in voltage standards, radio-frequency communications, and energy efficient control听circuitsfor听superconductor-based听quantum听computing.听In听particular,听the听researcher听is听expected听to听design听and model听superconductingcircuits,听fabricate听devices听in听the听NIST听Boulder听Microfabrication听Facility,听and听test听and measure听superconducting听Josephsonjunctions听and听single-flux-quantum听circuits.

- Relevant research experience with low-temperature (LTS) and high-temperature (HTS) superconductive听devicesand听circuits.
- Relevant听graduate-level research experience with electronics听design听and automation听(EDA) tools听for听single-flux-quantum (SFQ)听circuits, including听layout and routing听methodologies.

PREP is a 5-year cooperative agreement between NIST laboratories and participating PREP Universities to听establish听acollaborative听research听relationship听between听NIST听and听U.S.听institutions听of听higher听education听in听the听following disciplines including (but may not be limited to) biochemistry, biological sciences, chemistry, computer听science, engineering, electronics, materials science, mathematics, nanoscale science, neutron science, physical听science,听physics,听and statistics. This collection听of information is needed to facilitate administrative functions听of听the听PREP听Program.
