Professor Davis’ research interests involve soft matter in the form of complex fluids and wet granular materials. His current work involves (1) droplet and emulsion flows in porous media, membranes, and microfluidic devices; (2) hydrophobic particle capture by water-in-oil emulsion binders and modeling of osmotic swelling of emulsion droplets; (3) simulations of wet granular flows; and (4) manipulation of cell and particle motion in complex channels and bioprinting. It has applications in biotechnology, energy, materials, and separations.
