This project partnered with the Globeville, Elyria-Swansea, Cole, and Clayton neighborhoods in Denver, Colorado, to understand and address the disruption caused by the Central 70 highway reconstruction project and related neighborhood redevelopment, including impacts on air quality, noise pollution, traffic patterns, and community well-being, while also working to amplify resident voices in decision-making processes.
Our National Science Foundation-funded project equipped and trained community members to use consumer-grade environmental monitors to measure air pollution in their neighborhoods and designed a set of user-friendly smartphone apps where they could report their daily experiences related to construction, pollution, and other environmental impacts affecting their health and quality of life.
