CU Neuroscience and MCDB double major Jon Coulson, a Navy veteran, was in the news, due to a barrier-breaking occurrence at CU. He and his service dog, Xenna, are working in the neuroscience laboratory of CU Psychology and Neuroscience Distinguished Professor Linda Watkins (Behavioral Neuroscience), a first on the CU campus. Xenna is undergoing specialized training and has to wear protective gear while in the lab, but this is allowing Jon to participate in research heretofore unavailable to those in need of service animals. To read more about Jon, Xenna, and the research going on in the lab, read the Colorado Arts and Sciences Magazine article about them.
