Marisa Tirado (she/her) has been teaching rhetoric and creative writing in higher education since receiving her MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where she also studied literary translation. Her poetry chapbook was the recipient of the 2021 Robert Phillips Chapbook Prize, and her forthcoming full-length poetry collection with Button Poetry debuts in 2023. She has experience in community organization and activism through founding the international collective of BIPOC creatives called , which provides grassroots opportunities and funding for publishing and online writing seminars. Her research interests include protest rhetorics in American society, Latinx pop culture, Puerto Rican rhetorics, Latinx diaspora, and the American Southwest.
