Greetings, catalog contributors!

Now that the 2017–18 catalog has been published, we wanted to share a few updates and instructions on requesting catalog edits and upcoming projects.

New Ticketing System for Catalog Edits

In order to expedite change requests, the Office of the Registrar has implemented a ticketing system to organize catalog edits.

  • To request an edit to catalog content (e.g., overviews, descriptions, program requirements, photos, etc.), complete the online form. Include links to the pages needing edits and a description of the proposed content changes.
  • To request changes to faculty lists, complete the online form and include as many details and links to pages as possible.
  • If you’re having trouble finding something, email catalog@colorado.edu with a description of the content you’re looking for and a link to its location in the .

In each of these cases, you’ll receive a confirmation email that a change request has been created.

The catalog will be considered final as of the first day of fall classes. Please submit all revisions to the 2017–18 catalog, including curriculum changes, faculty edits and text updates, by Friday, Aug. 18.

Course Changes in the Catalog

One of the new features of the 2017–18 catalog is course integration into plan-of-study tables and the ability to click on a course number to view the course’s description, requisites and departmental categories.

Since course details are pulled directly from Campus Solutions, the team in the Office of the Registrar handles course proposals and revisions. To edit course content, submit a or to your dean’s office for processing.

New or edited courses submitted to the Academic Scheduling team will be reflected in the catalog at the end of the month in which they’re processed.

Coming Soon: CIM Curriculum Management

Over the next several months, the Office of the Registrar will be working with academic units to streamline requests and build online workflows for curriculum creation and approval. Course proposals, revisions, new programs and changes to degree requirements will all be processed and approved via the online management system. The new tool will also integrate with the public catalog, eliminating redundant editing, and will seamlessly publish curriculum revisions. Stay tuned for additional details.

2018–19 University Catalog

It’s never too early to start thinking about revisions to the next catalog, especially if your department plans on introducing new programs or revising courses. The next catalog will open for edits in mid-October.

Best regards,

Dustin

Welcome back! We hope each of you enjoyed a great holiday season. Please take a moment to read through these important catalog updates.

Please Edit and Approve Your Catalog Pages (Seriously)

THANK YOU to all of our catalog contributors who edited and approved their pages by the December deadline(s). If you still have pages in your queue for edits and/or approval, please move those forward as quickly as possible.

If your pages are not submitted by the end of January, the Office of the Registrar will approve the pages in their current format, and academic policies and requirements will be considered final for the 2017–18 academic year.

Updated Catalog Publication Schedule

Since many catalog pages are still awaiting edits and approvals from authors and contributors, there will NOT be a second round of catalog edits.

Instead, the Office of the Registrar will work through all catalog pages between now and mid-February to make any necessary edits. If additional work is required, we will rollback pages and contact users directly with any issues to resolve.

If your catalog pages have already been approved, but further work is needed, please contact us directly at catalog@colorado.edu and we will either make your changes ourselves or roll the pages back for edits and approval.

Faculty Listings

The Office of the Registrar is continuing to work with Faculty Affairs to import current faculty lists into the catalog. Watch for additional emails with instructions on approving and editing faculty lists once the faculty information has been added to the catalog.

Catalog Schedule at a Glance

Now: Final edits/approvals from catalog contributors

Ƿ–m-ܲ: Final edits and approvals by the Office of the Registrar

Mid-February: Final call for catalog changes

Early March: 2017–18 catalog publication

We hope each of you enjoyed a great holiday season! Please take a moment to read through these important catalog updates.

Last Catalog Open Lab Training | Final Deadline Extended to 12/22 /registrar/2016/12/13/final-deadline-extended Last Catalog Open Lab Training | Final Deadline Extended to 12/22 Anonymous (not verified) Tue, 12/13/2016 - 00:00 Tags: 2017–18 Curriculum & Catalog Dustin Moody

Good afternoon, catalog contributors.

Here are two important updates as we approach our first catalog deadline.

FINAL Catalog Open Lab Training Tomorrow

Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2–3:30 p.m., Regent 1B60

Bring your laptop and work with a catalog administrator to resolve any remaining questions or issues with catalog content.

Catalog Edit Deadline: Extended

Many of you have already edited and approved your catalog pages. THANK YOU for your assistance with this project and for meeting the published deadline. You all belong on Santa’s nice list!

However, some pages are still being edited by approvers early in the workflow, meaning that after the current editor hits “Approve,” at least one person (typically two or three) will need to review and approve the page themselves by the deadline.

To give those approvers time to properly review each page during this busy time of year, we’re extending the final deadline to 5 p.m. onWednesday, Dec. 21.

Please make sure everyone in the workflow has finished approving pages by that time. We will not be responsible for any coal that may or may not appear in tardy approvers’ stockings.

On Dec. 22, the catalog team will begin implementing larger-scale changes and updates. We’ll also let you know if we see any content that could benefit from additional work.

If you have any questions, please email us at catalog@colorado.edu.

Attend a Training Open Lab Starting Today

The Office of the Registrar is hosting open lab training sessions throughout the fall semester for catalog contributors. If you missed last week’s training, or if you would like additional help, consider attending an open lab for hands-on, focused attention.

Catalog Site Maintenance: Course Lists

The catalog website will be down for maintenance on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Any changes made during this time will not be saved. Please exit out of the catalog and log back in after 7 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Next, sign up for your in-person training session or indicate that you won’t be able to attend. Please read the session descriptions carefully; each session’s content is geared toward a particular role.

Three different training sessions are offered based on your role at CU and with the catalog. You only need to sign up for ONE training session. Each session is offered multiple times, but space is limited, so sign up early to secure a time that works best with your schedule.

  • Academic training is the most comprehensive. Attend this session if you edit tuition tables or academic program information for degrees, minors or certificates, including requirements lists and four-year plans.
  • Administrative training excludes training on program requirement lists. This session is meant for people who work primarily with content related to university policies or administrative units.
  • Approver training is the most basic, and is intended for people who make minimal text edits, focusing instead on approving pages before publication.

If you have any questions, please email us at catalog@colorado.edu. Thank you very much, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
