Biography 

Matthew Bravo is a sixth year Ph.D. candidate whose research areas of interest include international development, organizational theory, and gender studies, specifically in East Africa.  His dissertation project investigates the role NGOs play in an effort to 鈥渄ecolonize鈥 current international development discourse and practice.  He has also been part of research projects that look at COVID-19鈥檚 impact on development practice and gender relations in Uganda.  Before his academic pursuits,  Bravo co-founded and was the Executive Director of the Entusi Community Development Center, a social enterprise in rural Uganda.  With research and field-work experience in Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia, Bravo has worked with various community development projects including women empowerment initiatives, HIV/AIDS prevention, indigenous social movements, and sustainable farming.  He holds a Masters of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management at CU-Denver and a Masters of Arts in Sociology at CU-Boulder.
