November is Native American and Indigenous Brilliance Month, which pays tribute to the rich ancestry, diverse cultures and traditions of Native Americans, Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians. Join us at upcoming events and learn more about how to get involved.  

   Día de Los Muertos Altar Crawl | Oct. 31

The Día de Los Muertos Altar Crawl is a campus-wide event that invites the ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ community to explore and engage with a series of altars created in honor of Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). This event will highlight the cultural significance of the day by encouraging participants to visit different altars across campus, each representing various aspects of remembrance and celebration.

There will be food, music, and opening celebrations. 

Time: 2:30-4 p.m.

Location: Abrams Lounge on the 3rd Floor of the C4C. When coming off the elevator, make a right. It will be displayed out the window case.

    Inclusive Excellence in Gaming: An Evening with John Romero | Nov. 6

Join this event to kick off Native American and Indigenous Heritage Month at ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ!  

Celebrate excellence in gaming at "An Evening with John Romero." Born in Colorado and holding Mexican, Yaqui and Cherokee heritage, John is a director, designer, programmer and developer in the video game industry. He has helped develop classics like Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Hexen and Quake.  

John will present on indigeneity and gaming remotely to a live audience in the CASE auditorium. Catering, provided by Tocabe, will also be served with a curated Q&A in the Chancellor's Hall.

This event is free to all ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ students. 

   Foodie Tuesday: Native and Indigenous Heritage Month—Ch'il Indigenous Foods | Nov. 19

Join us for a special Foodie Tuesday event celebrating Native and Indigenous Heritage Month with Ch'il Indigenous Foods. This event promotes plant medicine and food sovereignty through grassroots activism, featuring the sharing of traditional Indigenous plant foods and practices. Attendees will also receive plants to take home and grow, encouraging sustainable food practices. 

Time: 5-7 p.m.

Student Organizations

AISES (American Indian Science and Engineering Society) has both a ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ and a National Chapter. The CU-Boulder Chapter wants to encourage and support American Indian and Alaskan Natives to pursue the science and engineering fields and connect the student chapter to the professional Native community.

The CNAIS Native Graduate Student Group enhances, supports, and maintains Indigenous cultures and epistemologies within the ¾«Æ·SMÔÚÏßӰƬ community and supports Indigenous peoples globally through activism, outreach, and research. The NGSG fosters amity and serves as a supportive foundation for graduate and undergraduate students across all colleges and departments in the University of Colorado system and internationally. 

NALSA (Native American Law Students Association) provides academic, social, and cultural support to Native American students at the University of Colorado Law School as well as those with an interest in federal Indian and tribal law.

Oyate Native American Student Organization serves as a support center for Native American students (graduate and undergraduate), and offers a communal atmosphere where students can come together to share their unique cultures, backgrounds, and traditions. It offers academic support, and is the central place for Native American students to network with one another, and other student groups both locally and nationally.
