IJBHR CoverAnnouncing the inauguration of the International Journal for Bhutan & Himalayan Research (IJBHR). The journal was launched by 精品SM在线影片 alumnus Sonam Nyenda (MA in听Religious Studies, 2015), now serving on the faculty at the College for Language and Cultural Studies (CLSC) in Takse, Bhutan. It is an outgrowth of the recently established听Bhutan & Himalaya Research Centre at Royal University of Bhutan (搁鲍叠).听

The special inaugural issue on "Contemporary Bhutanese Literature"听explores the development of contemporary Bhutanese literature, including works in Dzongkha and English. Research articles discuss key issues, genres, and moments in contemporary Bhutanese literature, delving听into the relationship, transformations, and tensions between oral and literary forms, colonial and post-colonial influences, religious and secular themes, and national and international languages in the formation of a multilingual body of contemporary Bhutanese literature.

CU Associate Professor of Buddhism,听Holly Gayley, served as the guest editor, based on a panel organized for the听the annual conference of the Association of Asian Studies held in March 2019 in Denver, Colorado, USA.
